This is a new blog dedicated to common sense in the automation world. On this site I am looking to give small to mid sized companies a place to go for common sense solutions to production problems. As well , I would like to see system integrators step in with cost effective solutions.
I have been in the industrial automation field for many years and watched new fads come and go. I have also seen alot of key processes changed in the name of technology. This may or may not be in the companies best interest. Growing companies need common sense solutions based on their processes and growth rates. We as industrial control specialist need to look more at the processes we are serving instead of the processes we can sell.
My hope here is to of course, sell my ideas as far as how much and what type of technology is right, as I see it for a particular system. But more than that, I would like to see new ideas unfold as the producers and the integrators combine the use of basic control systems. Producing production gains, innovative solutions, and cost effective improvements, in quality as well as capacity.
